Quick Fire Friday with…Katie Roberts, completions officer at The Mortgage Lender

Friday, April 23, 2021

We talk to new recruit Katie Roberts – she tells us about the podcast that’s got her through not being able to see family and friends, why, if she could, she’d shake up Government incentives to help more onto and up the property ladder and her spicy signature dish…

Sum up the current mortgage market in a hashtag?

#EverGrowingKeepItGoing

Best piece of career advice and who was it from?

“You are your only limitation” head teacher at high school.

If you could change one thing in the industry, what would it be and why?

Government incentives. Government incentives introduced are typically for new build properties and have house price restrictions based on reginal location, although this is a great idea, house prices continue to increase which can make it difficult for first-time buyers to get onto the property ladder. If I could change something, I would make incentives like this available for existing homes also to provide more opportunities to buy.

What have you missed over the last year?

At the top of my miss list is being able to see family and friends without having to stand at their front door with an umbrella.

What’s your signature dish / bake?

I make a spicy sausage pasta that hasn’t had bad feedback yet… there’s a good chance people might just be being nice, but it has now become my go to dish.

Favourite podcast – and why?

Blossoms Pubcast. I love that I learn more about the band and their stories have had me in stitches. It’s really easy listening.

What’s your hidden talent?

I can make my eyes look in different directions – get Simon Cowell on the phone STAT!
