A career in social media can be hard to quantify but we enjoy a good challenge. We helped a freelance Glasgow-based vlogger secure a mortgage and move into her dream house.

A 23-year-old Glasgow-based vlogger was making her money from a make-up and lifestyle vlog she’d seen blossom in the previous 12 months. Here at The Mortgage Lender HQ we put our noggins together and helped her secure a £240,000 mortgage at 80% LTV. We took the view that working as a vlogger was a sustainable occupation and offered her the loan on a 2.96% two-year fixed-rate deal. She got the mid-terraced house she’d always wanted and we got this nifty little story to tell. Result.

Being a professional footballer definitely has it’s perks, but this one found getting the right mortgage to be difficult. Good job we were there to supply the perfect through-ball. Get in.

Despite having significant earnings — we’re talking a premier league wage — this footballer found it difficult to get a mortgage as he was considering early retirement. As a youthful footballer and non-UK national we decided to lend him £840,000 at 70% LTV. We offered him a rate of 3.39% on a two-year tracker with evidence of four years’ income on a fixed-term contract. Thanks to our assistance he was able to secure the detached house he wanted. This 30-year-old ran a shipping security consultancy business with his 34-year-old wife. Translation? He was an expert at fighting pirates. But with only one year of accounts they almost had to walk the plank.

This 30-year-old had employed his 34-year-old wife to help run his business, but they only had one year of accounts. We delved in to his history and found that his ex-military background meant that his expertise was in high demand, so we had no problem lending them the money. The couple had evidence of one year’s income and borrowed £580,000 at 77% LTV on a two year fix at 2.52%. They got the house they wanted and could sail happily into the sunset. Metaphorically of course.

Being the manager of a high-profile football club can be stressful. That’s probably why they chew so much gum. But when it comes to finding a mortgage we’re experts in relieving the pressure.

Despite having a hefty deposit, this football manager couldn’t get a mortgage on the basis of standard underwriting. But we aren’t your standard mortgage lender. We found that he had been on a full-time managerial contract with an English Championship club since 2013. That sounded pretty good to us, so we stepped in and lent him £440,000 with an 80% LTV. We gave him a 2.96% two-year fixed rate and he was able to buy the detached house his heart desired. With three years’ income from his fixed-term contract and a high profile within the beautiful game, we were confident he could realistically secure future employment, enabling pay back of the loan. With that weight lifted from his shoulders, he could focus on getting his team promoted.

We decided that her track record in the industry — several contracts in recent years with global brands — Meant we were confident in providing her with a mortgage.
