Homes for Ukraine

The UK Government has announced the creation of the Homes for Ukraine Scheme.

The Scheme will connect Ukrainians and their immediate family members fleeing the war with individuals and organisations willing to offer accommodation in the UK.

We are supportive of the scheme and are working closely with industry bodies and the government as details are being finalised. We want to make it as simple as possible for our customers to take part.

As there are financial implications, we ask that you think carefully before applying for this Scheme, and refer to the Money Helper Website for free and impartial money guidance

If you are considering applying for the scheme, here are some things you should consider;

  • all customers, including BTL landlords, will need to maintain their mortgage payments while on the scheme
  • your finances, including if you are in arrears.
  • your personal circumstances, particularly if you are vulnerable.

We have answered more of your frequently asked questions below.

It is important that you contact TML and to inform us after you have been accepted onto the scheme and before your Ukrainian guest arrives at your property.

More Information

We have answered some FAQs to help our customers who may be considering taking part in the UK Government Homes for Ukraine scheme.

Yes. The Government is advising people with mortgages on their homes to seek the permission of their mortgage lender. You should contact us after you have been accepted onto the scheme and before your Ukrainian guest arrives at your property. Please call us on 0344 257 0418 and we will grant you the permission you need.

BTL landlords are able to participate in the scheme and will still need to seek our permission to offer accommodation to your Ukrainian guest. Please note that if you are offering a vacant property or a vacant room within a property you will be required to continue to service your mortgage in full. You are not permitted to charge any rent to your guest.

We may not be able to support applications from customers who are more than 6 months in arrears. Please contact us on 0344 257 0418 and we can discuss your request in more detail with you.

We may not be able to support applications where possession proceedings are underway. Please contact us on 0344 257 0418 and we can discuss your request in more detail with you.
