Temporary change to interest-only payments for six months
Switching to interest-only payments means you will only pay the interest on your mortgage rather than repaying the capital and interest.
You can request a temporary change to interest-only payments for six months. This will reduce your monthly payments during the six-month period but will increase the overall cost of your mortgage over the term, as you won’t be paying off any of the capital during the interest-only period.
At the end of the six months, you will automatically go back to paying capital and interest payments.
The monthly repayments after the six months will be a higher amount than your previous capital and interest payments because you are paying back the balance over a reduced term.
This temporary switch is available without an affordability check. If you maintain the required payments, this change will not be negatively reported to Credit Reference Agencies.
If you can afford to make your current regular mortgage payments, you should do so, as customers who do not make changes will pay less over the term. It is important you understand that if you proceed with this change, the overall cost of your mortgage would increase.

- No missed mortgage payments.
