We have recently strengthened our presence in the residential and BTL markets with the acquisition of The Mortgage Lender, a specialist intermediary-only mortgage lender that provides products and criteria that meet the needs of borrowers who are not served by the high street.

The Mortgage Lender (TML) are currently looking for a Compliance Monitoring Officer to directly support the Head of Compliance & Legal in providing assurance that TML continues to meet all regulatory requirements. The Compliance Monitoring Officer will be responsible for creating, reviewing and updating the Company’s compliance monitoring plan, undertaking compliance monitoring reviews and assisting with the delivery of recommendations. This is a fantastic opportunity to genuinely influence the business during a time of significant growth.


Prepare and maintain a compliance monitoring framework document which sets out the risk profile of the Company. This document should underpin the company’s Risk Management Framework and be aligned, where appropriate, to the Group’s framework

Assess the appropriateness of the Company’s existing compliance monitoring plan against the risks to the business and evolving regulatory landscape, proposing enhancements/adjustments to the Head of Compliance & Legal as appropriate

Draft a proposed annual compliance monitoring plan, which complements the company’s 1st and 2nd line risk assurance map, and aligns to the Group’s plan, for the Head of Compliance to present to the Board for approval

Prepare a realistic and workable prioritisation schedule and timetable of activities for the planned compliance monitoring activities

Review the existing compliance monitoring methodology and associated templates (e.g. Terms of Reference, Summary of Findings, Final Report) and deliver enhancements/improvements as appropriate

Draft the Terms of Reference for each review

Lead compliance monitoring activities in accordance with the compliance monitoring plan

Draft and prepare full and executive summary reports; presentation of findings; validation and closure of actions under management

Draft and prepare monthly and quarterly reports to the Head of Compliance & Legal, the Executive Management and Risk, Oversight & Compliance Committees and the Board

Develop the relationship with the Group compliance monitoring function and provide updates as appropriate

The Person

Able to demonstrate experience of creating and executing compliance monitoring frameworks

Experience in regulated mortgage lending and administration activities would be preferable

Excellent working knowledge of UK regulatory requirements (e.g. MCOB, SYSC)
